Donate, recycle or remove before a Medfield move
An empty room can involve several destinations. Decide where items belong before move week so usable goods, recycling and disposal do not become one last-minute pile.
Start with what another household could use
Look at furniture in good light and record dimensions, wear, missing parts and working condition. Ask the intended recipient or charity before arranging transport. A piece that still works for you may not meet another organization’s space or condition rules.
Medfield’s SWAP area offers a resident reuse route during its operating season. Read the current town guidance before bringing items, especially when your move falls near the seasonal closing period. Medfield SWAP Area
Keep special materials out of the ordinary pile
The town publishes special collection information for materials including electronics, hazardous waste and mattresses. These should be identified early rather than included without explanation in a general “junk” note. Medfield Special Collections
The transfer station requires a valid town vehicle sticker. Those resident access rules do not establish permission for a commercial crew. If someone else will handle a removal, confirm the destination and requirements with that provider. Medfield Transfer Station
- Photograph furniture and note dimensions.
- Keep an accepted-donation list separate from possible donations.
- Identify electronics, mattresses and hazardous materials individually.
- Confirm who will transport each group and when it must leave.
Request the work in clear groups
List items going to the new home first. Add a second group for approved donation transport and a third for removal or recycling review. A single request can describe all three without suggesting they have the same destination or price.
Leave a backup decision for anything that a recipient declines. Do not rely on a charity accepting every piece on the day you must return the keys.
A useful answer
Can everything left after my move go to the Medfield transfer station?
Different materials need different routes. The town's transfer station has resident access rules, and a valid town vehicle sticker is required. Special collection information covers items such as electronics, hazardous waste and mattresses.
Do not leave that sorting until the final loading day. List anything unusual when requesting help, and confirm a lawful recycling or removal option for each item. Resident access should not be assumed to cover a commercial crew's vehicle.
